New Dates for Online Beginning Photography Class

Many of you have emailed me asking when I will be holding my next online photography class. Well, the dates have been set!

A description of the class follows, as well as information about registration and class dates:

The Get Off the Green Square online class is geared toward beginner photographers who have a DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) or a digital point and shoot that has creative modes (Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, Manual, etc.) You must have a computer, internet access, and a valid email address to participate.

How do you know if this class is for you? Easy! Do you shoot all your pictures on the "green square," otherwise known as the automatic mode? Do you wish your pictures looked better? Do you look at other people's pictures and wonder why they are so attractive to your eye and your pictures are blah? Do you take okay pictures, but want to improve your style? Are you a mom, dad, or a grandparent that would like to take better pictures of your kids? Are you a blogger who wants to improve the pictures you post on the blog? Then this class is for you!

Get Off the Green Square is a 6 week class that addresses the common questions below:

1. What are some rules for composing my pictures to make them more appealing?
2. What in the world is aperture and how do I use it to take better pictures?
3. What is shutter speed and why does it matter to me?
4. What is ISO and how is it important to my pictures?
5. How do I make my sports photos more attractive?
6. How do I take better portraits?
7. How do I use light types and direction to make creative photos?
8. What are some quality online resources to help me take better pictures?

And any other questions you may have about photography!

How does the class work? Each week there will be a lesson posted on the Class Blog. The lessons are in multimedia format including example photos, hyperlinks, and videos. First Session- In Person

I had our first session of the IN PERSON Get Off the Green Square class today. It was a ton of fun and it was great meeting all of the women. I count myself blessed to be able to help you all out and learn about photography.

Remember to take a concept a week and concentrate on that concept. Try to pick the camera up once a day and practice!

Can't wait till next week when we get to the real nitty-gritty!

Proud Teacher

I just got an email from a student who took the Get Off the Green Square Class, Kaleb, telling me that he just won a photography contest! He won first prize and was awarded $250! The contest actually required Kaleb to use a disposable Kodak camera for the contest and the judges were the ones who developed and judged the photos. The theme was "Gloucester County, 'The Land of the Life Worth Living'".

His winning picture was a beach scene with a pier and a seagull flying in the sky. He also received three honorable mentions! His images will be displayed at his local hospital and will eventually be put online. They have not put the images up from the Spring contest yet, so I have no link for you yet.

He was so kind to say this about the Get Off the Green Square class:
"I used some of the techniques you had taught us in some of the photos. I had taken like a worms eye view of an old truck, leading lines of some trees....etc.
Thank you for all you have taught me, I will never regret taking your class!"
Thanks for sharing your success with us, Kaleb. I am one proud teacher ;0)
